---------------------Keyswitching and Automation---------------------
All articulations and many other features are available by keyswitching or by using a drop-down menu. Additionally, you can assign these articulations to cc or host automation by going to the "Automation" page. -Show Me- ---------------------DivisiLive® Auto-Arranger--------------------- If you open an instrument that contains more than one section, you can choose any section instantly on the fly via keyswitching or automation. Or you can use DivisiLive® which will automatically detect whether a chord is played wherein the section you've chosen will divide in half. For example, if you've opened 1st Violins, Turned on DivisiLive®, and have chosen the "whole" section and then play a single note, 16 violins will sound. If you play a chord, you will only get 8 violins on each note. Similarly, if you choose the "quarter" section, and you play a single note, 4 violins will sound. If you play a chord, you will get solo violins on each note. Choosing "Blend All" does not work in DivisLive. -Show Me- ---------------------SmartLegato----------------------------------- SmartLegato is an intuitive programming feature that enhances playability. SmartLegato senses your playing style and knows whether you're playing chords or a single legato-style line, and will adjust accordingly. So what is legato technology? Legato technology enhances the realism when you want to create smooth, connected musical passages. When you play and hold a note, then play a second note while still holding the first note, the first note will stop sounding automatically. This ensures a "mono" or "unison" musical line where you don't get irregular transitions between notes. But we always thought is was inconvenient not to be able to play chords fluidly. If you try, you get note stealing. You might be able to use chords with some legato technologies, but only in a limited fashion. You would have to play the chord, release that chord, and then play another chord. This results in a rather "staccato", or at best, "detaché" sound - no connection or fluidity between the chords. Trying to play chords in any other way would inevitably result in note stealing. But SmartLegato changes the game. When you turn SmartLegato on, true legato technology is used when playing legato, non-chord passages as described above. And, with SmartLegato, we can also play fluidly-moving chords perfectly without any note stealing. This is because SmartLegato knows when to engage or disengage its legato feature depending on how you are playing. All of this happens without ever having to change patches, use a keyswitch, controller, or anything else. -Show Me- ---------------------DeskPerspective--------------------- When you choose an instrument that contains more than one section, you can choose to blend them. Make sure you have turned off DivisiLIve®. Additionally, you can set their levels and pan independently. In this way you can get that perfect custom sound suited to your personal taste. -Show Me- ---------------------Vibrato Control--------------------- TVEC II contains very sophisticated control for vibrato. Normally, you get 4 options: Modwheel vibrato, velocity vibrato, modwheel and velocity vibrato, or TVEC II's exclusive VibratoLive feature. By default, vibrato is set to modwheel and velocity. This means that the harder or faster you play, the more vibrato you'll hear. And if you happen to play softly enough so that there is little or no vibrato, simply raise the modwheel to add more. And of course, by choosing modwheel vibrato, the amount of vibrato is solely controlled by the modwheel. -Show Me- Let's look a little at VibratoLive. VibratoLive breaks a note into 2 parts - start, and sustain, named "Startvib" and "SusVib" respectively. Therefore, you can control the amount of vibrato of the start and sustain independently. Additionally, you can set the time between start and sustain. You'll notice that by default, the control for these features is based on the setting of the knobs. However, you can elect to use many other means of control such as controlling the StartVib with velocity, or the SusVib with the modwheel, etc. Find the best combination that suits your playing style. -Show Me- ---------------------Section Slides and IntervaLive--------------------- Using the pitch wheel, you can add section glissandos when you play intervals. TVEC II can tell how large the interval of the slide should be based on the interval you play. For example, if you want to gliss an octave, TVEC II will automatically compose a glissando between the notes you've played. Alternately, when you play a smaller interval such as a half step, TVEC II will compose a very small glissando. Additionally, you can control the speed of the glissando by how far you raise or lower the pitch wheel. And of course, you can set the level of the slides as well. -Show Me- ---------------------Slides for Solos--------------------- TVEC II will detect the distance between notes, and play the appropriate sample - small slides for small intervals, and large slides for large intervals. -Show Me- |
---------------------Instrument Delay--------------------- Suppose you want to layer your 1st and 2nd chair solo violin on a unison part. In real life, no matter how good the players are, they could not possibly start each note perfectly together. There would always be a certain amount of difference between the players' start. To achieve this same effect, TVEC II includes an instrument delay amount knob that produces a random amount of delay of the start of each note. This random delay is constrained by the amount you set on the knob. -Show Me- ---------------------MutesLive®--------------------- Switch mutes on or off on-the-fly by keyswitching or automation. If you're playing a passage, and engage mutes, you will not hear the effect until there is a natural break in the passage. This ensures that the sound of the mute effect won't "snap" in as you're playing. Further, in the real world, it takes a certain amount of time for the players of a section to put their mutes on or take them off. So having to wait to hear this effect until after there is a small break in the passage is quite natural. -Show Me- ---------------------TrillsLive®--------------------- When you switch to a trill articulation, whether whole step or half step, a "TrillKey" knob will pop into the interface. With this knob, choose your key, whether major, natural minor or harmonic minor. Once you do so, the correct half step or whole step trill will be chosen automatically as you play in real time. Or choose "no key", and you will have independent control of the half or whole step trills by keyswitching, drop-down menu or automation. And since the key is determined by a knob, this means you can automate the key in your sequence so that key changes take place wherever you want them. -Show Me- ---------------------Polyphonic Round Robin--------------------- All articulations, even the slower adagios and legatos use round robin. But what's better, is that this round robin is fully polyphonic. So even if you play a chord, different samples will be triggered. Also, a great random script has been added to the Polyphonic Round Robin to create even more realism. -Show Me- ---------------------Repeated Notes--------------------- Smooth out transitions of repeated notes by depressing the sustain pedal during the passage. Normally, it is very hard to create realistic smooth repeated notes. But with TVEC II, you can depress the sustain pedal while you play the passage to smooth out the transitions. And if you leave SmartLegato on, and also depress the sustain pedal, the note transitions between non-repeated notes will be even smoother. -Show Me- ---------------------Accent Style--------------------- For accented articulations, trills and tremolos and short notes, you can choose from 6 different accent styles. This is done by a drop-down menu, keyswitching or automation. If you have chosen to use keyswitching, then in the case of combining accent styles, you need to double-hit the key. For example, combining Marcato with Spiccato is obtained by double-hitting A0. -Show Me- ---------------------Attack Control for Trills and Tremolos--------------------- Trills and tremolos will follow the last articulation's accent style you selected. Therefore, choose "AccentFF", then choose a trill or tremolo. The trill or tremolo will have the same "AccentFF" attack. Then, to soften the attack of the trill or tremolo, choose "Legato" or "Adagio" and then choose the trill or tremolo again. This makes the accent style of the trills and tremolos very dynamic and much easier to use. -Show Me- ---------------------Velocity Attack--------------------- Velocity Attack. Every articulation can have velocity attack applied to it. And for convenience, this feature is also available via keyswitching or automation. -Show Me- ---------------------Volume control--------------------- Volume Control. You can control volume by either velocity, modwheel or both. And you can also adjust the sensitivity of both. -Show Me- ---------------------EQLive®--------------------- On the EQLive page, a simple 3-pole parametric equalizer is provided so that you can quickly set up a custom EQ if desired. To turn this feature on or off, click the "Bypass_EQ" button. By default, it is switched off normally. Additionally, you can control whether the note will play brighter via velocity or the Modwheel. To choose, click the "Velocity_Brite" or "Modwheel_Brite" button. Or choose none by clicking both until they are dark. By default, Velocity-brightness is switched on. If you want this effect to be more dramatic, raise the value of the "BriteSens" field. -Show Me- ---------------------Body Modeling (coming soon)--------------------- For the solo and chamber sections, we have now added optional body modeling. What this does is add the sound of the instrument's body for a more "in your face" sound. -Show Me- ---------------------Concert Hall Impulse Response (coming soon)--------------------- Concert Hall Impulse Response. For your convenience, we have added convolution reverb using a wonderful concert hall impulse response. You can set the amount of the reverb, or turn it off completely. -Show Me- |
